Dysphagia refers to all abnormalities that can occur during the pre-esophageal, pharyngeal, and esophageal stages of swallowing food.
Dysphagia can cause mild problems such as delayed meal times, discomfort, and coughing during meals, as well as serious issues such as malnutrition, dehydration, and aspiration pneumonia, which can even lead to death, making it a highly concerning disease.
Dysphagia can occur due to various factors, with many cases resulting in complications such as aspiration pneumonia and death
when food is inadvertently aspirated into the airway due to the failure of the upper esophageal sphincter to open properly.
Currently, the limit of video fluoroscopic swallowing study is that only qualitative analysis is possible, limiting quantitative analysis.
However, our research team has developed a program that quantitatively analyzes video fluoroscopic swallowing studies by applying our own algorithm.
By applying this program, we can perform video fluoroscopic swallowing studies in a short time, which can lead to an improvement in the quality of medical care.
Our research results have been recognized for their excellence and have been published in international academic journals such as Dysphagia Journal in 2017 and Scientific Report in 2019.
